Velicham Vitharunna Pennkutty tells the story of Geetha (played by Poornima), a principled and compassionate young woman whose kindness and moral strength bring warmth to the neighbourhood she lives in. Her gentle nature quietly influences everyone around her, including Prasad (played by Shankar), a sincere office manager who deeply loves her and dreams of a future together. Their peaceful world, however, is soon overshadowed by tragedy within Prasad's workplace.

Prasad's company boss is devastated when his daughter Asha (played by Swapna), a college student, suffers heartbreak after discovering that the man she loves, Jayan (played by Ravindran), is already involved with another woman. Distraught and unable to bear the betrayal, Asha meets with a tragic accident that leaves her permanently disabled. Fearing for his daughter's future, her father turns to Prasad and asks him to marry Asha and give her a secure life. When Geetha learns of this request, she quietly sacrifices her own happiness and distances herself from Prasad so that he may accept the proposal and support Asha.

As Prasad reluctantly agrees to the marriage, Geetha confronts Jayan when he later tries to pursue her, exposing his past relationship and persuading him to take responsibility for the woman and child he abandoned. In the end, Geetha's silent sacrifice comes to light, but instead of seeking personal happiness, she chooses a life of service, joining the Red Cross and dedicating herself to helping those in need—truly living up to her name as a girl who spreads light.
