Oru Kudumbathin Kathai

Oru Kudumbathin Kathai portrays an emotional family drama that explores the relentless struggles and quiet sorrows of a middle-class household. After the passing of their father, every member of the family works tirelessly to survive. The eldest daughter, Anandhi (played by Nandita Bose), shoulders the family like a mother; Shanti (played by Sumithra) works as a nurse; Vasanthi gives tuitions while learning typing; Balu delivers newspapers; and little Jayanthi sells snacks by the seashore. Into this weary household enters their supportive son-in-law (played by R. Muthuraman), who blends naturally with the family, offering love and stability.

Yet misfortune persists—broken marriages, illnesses, and the corrosive greed of a mother strain the fragile bonds. Shanti's emotional struggles as a nurse, her connection with a cancer patient (played by Srikanth), and the family's painful sacrifices drive the drama forward. Ultimately, when Anandhi's marriage collapses and she dies, Muthuraman is compelled by circumstances to accept her younger sister Shanti as his wife, bringing the film to an emotional and difficult conclusion.
