Film poster — Mayil

Mayil

Mayil (played by Roopa) is a spirited young woman working as a road labourer. Her life has been shaped by the strength of her mother, Chellakannu (played by Swarnalatha), who was abandoned by her husband before Mayil was even born. Suppressing her own desires and living with fierce self-discipline, the mother becomes vulnerable to a man who exploits her loneliness and emotions, only to deceive her and leave her pregnant once again. When Mayil discovers the truth about her mother's betrayal, she resolves to confront the injustice that has shattered their lives.

While the conservative society prepares to shun and shame her mother, Mayil refuses to join the condemnation. Determined to protect her mother's dignity, Mayil embarks on a difficult moral battle to identify the man responsible and compel him to take responsibility by marrying her mother — going so far as to sacrifice her own love with milkman Krishna (played by Rajesh) and future in the process.
