Film poster — Mariya My Darling

Mariya My Darling

The film follows Ragu (played by Kamal Hassan), the son of a ruined diamond merchant, who grows up troubled and eventually slips into a life of crime, constantly pursued by the police. While fleeing from one such chase, he lands in a new town where he meets Maria (played by Sripriya), a young woman reluctantly working for a local smuggling gang led by Swaminathan. Their repeated encounters spark a tender romance, even as Maria faces danger for resisting the gang's demands. Seeking revenge after Maria's father is murdered by a major criminal organization, Ragu infiltrates the gang.

He makes a shocking discovery: the gang's ruthless leader, Bhupathi (played by Udaykumar), is the same manager who betrayed and ruined Ragu's own father years ago. Caught between his long-held quest for vengeance and his love for Maria, the situation reaches a climax when Maria alerts the police to save Ragu. In the ultimate act of psychological cruelty, Swaminathan commands Ragu to carry out the murder of his beloved Maria, forcing him into an impossible emotional and moral trap.
