Engal Vathiyar
Engal Vathiyar
Engal Vathiyar is the story of a poor village school teacher (played by Nagesh) who dreams of securing a happy future for his daughter (played by Kavitha) by getting her married to the boy (played by Vijay Babu) she loves. But when the boy's wealthy father demands a dowry of 25,000 rupees, the teacher is forced into a desperate search for help. He turns to his former students — now a police officer (played by Thengai Srinivasan), politician (played by Suruli Rajan), thief (played by Srikanth), and dancer (played by Jayamalini) — hoping that those whose lives he shaped will support him.
Each encounter exposes a different face of society, from exploitation to unexpected kindness, leaving the teacher emotionally depleted and questioning his own worth. As his family considers giving up on life altogether, a final twist of fate and long-overdue gratitude bring the story to a poignant and hopeful close, reaffirming the quiet nobility of a teacher who sacrificed everything for others.
